Simon Gandy has over 20 years of experience assisting public and private clients on matters of the circular economy, sustainability, waste management and life cycle assessment (LCA). He has performed a number of dedicated projects focussed on various aspects of the circular economy. For the European Commission (DG Environment), he explored the possible environmental benefits and impacts of extended product durability, and managed a series of projects compiling the evidence bases on which to develop criteria for ecolabels, ecodesign and green public procurement. For the European Environment Agency, he provided LCA input and market analysis knowledge to assess the possibility of evaluating the greenhouse gas benefits of the circular economy in Europe. In more recent times, his focus has moved towards the practicalities of helping organisations understand what the circular economy might mean to them, and how to make the most of the opportunities.
