James joined Valpak in 2006. Having worked in a number of roles within the business, he is currently the Head of Valpak’s Recycling Services department, ensuring that all of Valpak’s customers get the best value for their recyclate and helping them achieve environmental ambitions such as zero waste to landfill.
In 2019 James was selected to participate in a research expedition to one of the world’s most remote places, the uninhabited Henderson Island. Working with leading figures in academia, journalism, art and conservation, James formed part of a team to monitor and clean-up Henderson Island’s East beach, thought to be one of the most polluted in the world. His efforts on the island and subsequent work to raise awareness of the issues led to him being names as one of the UK’s 100 “Legends of Waste” in 2020.
