Understanding Fuel Characterisation and Boiler Impacts

Energy from Waste Theatre
There is a need to understand the chemical and physical properties of fuels in order to determine subsequent impacts on the plant. A better understanding of the occurrence of unwanted components of the fuel can allow decisions to be taken as to whether these can be removed or reduced thereby improving plant performance. This presentation will discuss key components of fuels and provide some examples of how these can occur, together with an overview of boiler gas pass damage mechanisms. Finally, the use of technoeconomic modelling tools to assess changes to fuel quality and subsequent plant operational costs will be introduced.
