Local authority preparations for mandatory food waste recycling services

Local Authority Theatre
The Environment Bill and Resources and Waste strategy require all local authorities in England to offer a weekly separate collection of food waste by the 2024/5 year.  The development of these services including design of collection systems, procurement of treatment capacity, resident communication, and mobilisation represents a significant piece of work for the c.50% of authorities who do not presently collect food waste.  This seminar session will consider the requirements for developing household food waste collections and shall explore specific options that can be deployed across collection and treatment.  The session will include an opportunity for discussion of options and experiences amongst local authorities gathered in the local authority lounge.
