Founded in 1989, INECE is the only global network focused on achieving compliance with environmental law through effective compliance promotion and enforcement strategies.
With over 2,100 affiliates in 150 countries, INECE engages environmental regulators, investigators, prosecutors, judges, and other government officials, as well as representatives from academia and business. The Network works to strengthen compliance and enforcement across a range of environmental issues including climate and air; biodiversity; chemicals and waste; forests; fresh water; oceans; and seaports.
INECE relies on members to support its work. By becoming a member of INECE, you can gain access to global networking and partnership opportunities, members-only publications and training materials, and discussion forums on topics such as environmental impact assessment, performance measurement, and hazardous waste. In addition, the Network offers members periodic training courses in the principles of environmental compliance and enforcement and/or site inspections.
The Network’s Executive Committee comprises representatives from the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Netherlands Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment, Chile’s Superintendencia del Medio Ambiente, the United Nations Environment Programme, the Environment Agency of England, Brazil’s Superior Tribunal de Justiça, and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency.
