Shortlist of bidders announced for Essex Waste Partnership PFI, Ruth Faulkner, 2010-03-12 00:00:00.0; A shortlist of seven companies in the running for a waste treatment contract has been announced by Essex Waste Partnership. The partnership, made up of Essex County Council and Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, recently received Government Private Finance Initiative credits of around £100million to improve the way waste is treated in Essex. They are also looking into new ways to deal with non-recyclable waste. ,

Plans for plants that can turn waste plastic into fuel, Ruth Faulkner, 2010-03-12 00:00:00.0; A new plant which turns mixed waste plastics into liquid synthetic fuels is now fully operational in Ireland, with the promise of more similar plants to come in the UK and throughout Europe. Cynar Recycling's first plant in Portlaoise, Ireland can process up to 10 tonnes of waste plastics per day. Although plants can be built to process up to 20 tonnes of waste per day producing up to 19,000 litres of fuel products at a conversion rate of 95%. ,
