Facing Facts in a Fast Changing Energy World

The new government has made radical changes to subsidy regimes for renewables – some signaled in advance and some not – as well as changes to energy efficiency programmes. The changes to the subsidy schemes inevitably led to a howl of complaints even though to me the writing was on the wall several years ago, whatever government was elected. Although controversial the changes to renewables were inevitable as let’s face it investors had enjoyed high returns guaranteed by the tax payer for too long and we can’t continue subsidies for ever.
